The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Zaccheo Andolina's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vladislav Maksimychev was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. Flavio Vittori showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ralf Rapp, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaspar Calisto in the 27th minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Italy were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gaspar Calisto in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Flavio Vittori prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Italy's Siricio Liotta managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Cengiz Ulutaş in the 55 minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Uwe Askri in the 57th minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Flavio Vittori made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaspar Calisto in the 59th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 60th minute by Zaccheo Andolina got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Zaccheo Andolina really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. In the 72nd minute Uwe Askri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Vittori saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 73rdth minute of the game Zaccheo Andolina who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Днепр ФК's Vladislav Maksimychev was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Italy's Siricio Liotta quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Cengiz Ulutaş, made in the 76th minute of the game. Cengiz Ulutaş made in the 77th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Ralf Rapp immediately put the ball in play. 79 minutes into the match, Italy's goal looked a bit too open when Dmitriy Bogaenko came free, but Flavio Vittori reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 80 minutes into the match, Днепр ФК's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Vladislav Maksimychev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 88th match minute, Italy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Deodato Magliozzi to maneuver through the defense. Cengiz Ulutaş made in the 91st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Italy's Siricio Liotta. When Adriano Curto came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Italy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adriano Curto couldn't finish the play. Italy's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
