Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Edílson Souza started the match with the kick off. With a little luck, Germany's Tommy Kahn got control of the ball when Edílson Souza tried to sneak it across the goal line. 7 minutes into the match, Edílson Souza had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tommy Kahn. Germany's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edílson Souza was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 9th match minute, Fifth Chicken was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edílson Souza to maneuver through the defense. 15 minutes had been played when some careless play by Germany's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mieszko Borkowski was slow to take the kick. During this time Fifth Chicken's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Mieszko Borkowski got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Tommy Kahn quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Szymon Konieczny took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frank Sachs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Willy Stieler made in the 23rd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Malte Schiele immediately put the ball in play. The audience was convinced that Edílson Souza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tommy Kahn was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. In the 28th minute of the match Fifth Chicken got a corner. Germany's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mieszko Borkowski ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Fifth Chicken's corner Mieszko Borkowski fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Tommy Kahn quite easily take care of the ball. Tommy Kahn came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Fifth Chicken's Edílson Souza. But to his dismay, Edílson Souza quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. A collision led to Germany getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Willy Stieler hit a great ball. Willy Stieler's late challenge caught a Fifth Chicken's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Willy Stieler helped the player get up and apologised. In the 41st minute, Willy Stieler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 42 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Malte Schiele. With an all-out effort, Fifth Chicken's Tommy Kahn threw himself towards the right post 44 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Edílson Souza, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Fifth Chicken's attentive Sten Granström managed to snatch the ball when Linus Schwerner made a throw-in in the 46th minute of the game. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frank Sachs stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tommy Kahn made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. Edílson Souza was shown his second yellow card after 62 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. Waldemar Tipinski ran back to his position shaking his head. Fifth Chicken's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
