Belgium's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After 6 minutes of play, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Guto Jacinto was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind AFC Cherries's goalkeeper Guto Jacinto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 9 minutes into the match, AFC Cherries's goalkeeper Guto Jacinto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Yves Dervaux. AFC Cherries's Guto Jacinto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 11th minute of play. A collision led to Belgium getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Siebe Michiels hit a great ball. Casper Claes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jurij Štencl, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. 16 minutes had been played when some careless play by Belgium's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luciano Cuenca was slow to take the kick. During this time AFC Cherries's players had a chance to rest. Guto Jacinto was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Edward Vanderstraeten showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 20 minute of play. Edward Vanderstraeten could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Guto Jacinto made a huge save. After having played for 29 minutes, Edward Vanderstraeten managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Belgium's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edward Vanderstraeten was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lenny Clocheret received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Guto Jacinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 34 minutes into the game, AFC Cherries's Jurij Štencl nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Casper Claes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. A collision led to Belgium getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Siebe Michiels hit a great ball. Guto Jacinto made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a good shot on target. Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jurij Štencl in the 45th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 46th match minute, AFC Cherries was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jesse Pinkman to maneuver through the defense. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edward Vanderstraeten made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, Edward Vanderstraeten ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Guto Jacinto was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. In the 60th minute, Armando Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edward Vanderstraeten blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Guto Jacinto having to make a save. A collision led to AFC Cherries getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Jesse Pinkman hit a great ball. Lenny Clocheret received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Guto Jacinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Casper Claes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Godfredo Barroso, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. AFC Cherries's Guto Jacinto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 84th minute of play. In the 91st minute, Edward Vanderstraeten left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Belgium fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-2. AFC Cherries's Vít Ambros was substituted for Christian Backman. In the 95th minute, Edward Vanderstraeten hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Belgium had won after a very even match.
