AFC Cherries's Guto Jacinto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 4th minute of play. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luciano Cuenca in the 5th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 10th minute of play forced AFC Cherries's goalkeeper Guto Jacinto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 11th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. AFC Cherries's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. Arnout Reekers was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Luciano Cuenca showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 13 minute of play. Guto Jacinto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 16th minute of play. Guto Jacinto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gustaaf Groeneveldt struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Guto Jacinto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. 23 minutes into the match, AFC Cherries's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Guto Jacinto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Godfredo Barroso hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luciano Cuenca in the 27th minute of play. Lars Meesters sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jurij Štencl in the 31st minute of the match. In the 34th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. AFC Cherries's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Guto Jacinto in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Jurij Štencl could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. 47 minutes into the game, Luciano Cuenca threw the ball into play from the sideline. Netherlands's Gust Ennemans quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
When Gijsbert ter Kruimer came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gijsbert ter Kruimer couldn't finish the play. AFC Cherries's Guto Jacinto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save AFC Cherries from getting a goal against them. Radek Rokos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpected shot in the 58th minute by Gustaaf Groeneveldt got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Guto Jacinto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 64th minute of the match. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jurij Štencl, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. David Eikelkamp hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Christian Backman managed to get in a good position for a shot. AFC Cherries's supporters rose to their feet, but Christian Backman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnout Reekers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Godfredo Barroso, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. In the 75th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. AFC Cherries made a substitution. Václav Buš replaced Jesse Pinkman. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luciano Cuenca in the 79th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 80th minute Luciano Cuenca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. AFC Cherries's Luděk Kareš was substituted for Luciano Cuenca. Guto Jacinto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mathijn Doctor's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Guto Jacinto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. 90 minutes into the game, Gijsbert ter Kruimer recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Guto Jacinto. Gijsbert ter Kruimer showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. 94 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Jurij Štencl came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Netherlands players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for AFC Cherries.
