After a defensive mix-up in Chaján's zone, Wim Wilmes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Baldomiro Sindo came out of the goal and Wim Wilmes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Chaján getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Manuel Ninobla hit a great ball. Baldomiro Sindo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 10th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wim Wilmes in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Baldomiro Sindo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gijsbert ter Kruimer scored 0-1 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Baldomiro Sindo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Augustas Matukas in the 23rd minute of play. With a little luck, Netherlands's Arnout Reekers got control of the ball when Augustas Matukas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Melquiades Blanco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. In the 28th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Baldomiro Sindo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Baldomiro Sindo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 38th minute of the match. 42 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Donato Goiano. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baldomiro Sindo having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Baldomiro Sindo made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. 60 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Donato Goiano came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Baldomiro Sindo in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Melquiades Blanco in the 69th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnulfo Frichoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Through an outstanding action, after 80 minutes, Baldomiro Sindo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 81st minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Chaján's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. With an all-out effort, Netherlands's Baldomiro Sindo threw himself towards the right post 83 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baldomiro Sindo having to interfere. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Netherlands's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
