Olavi Liib had in the 13thth minute some difficulties stopping Frank Sachs's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The corner led to Germany's Linus Schwerner getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Frédson Melo in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tommy Kahn prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 23 minutes into the match, Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Frédson Melo. Albin Holweck struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Olavi Liib didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Germany. If Eugen Morozan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st minute Frédson Melo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
