Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kjell Hök in the 12th minute of the match. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcial Estavan having to interfere. Marcial Estavan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kjell Hök in the 19th minute of the match. In the 20th minute Omar Orlan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arnout Reekers didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Herminio Iratze went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kjell Hök in the 26th minute of play. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Omar Orlan in the 29th minute of the match. Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free with the goalkeeper in the 31st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Marcial Estavan could save by the left post. After a rather tough play, INDEPENDIENTE F.C.'s Meng Qiang Liang got a free kick in the 32nd minute. If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Milton Ramos hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 40th minute after INDEPENDIENTE F.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner. A collision led to INDEPENDIENTE F.C. getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Kjell Hök hit a great ball. Meng Qiang Liang hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gijsbert ter Kruimer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 54 played minutes INDEPENDIENTE F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Domenico Rosato. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcial Estavan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dagoberto Neila's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Arnout Reekers firmly grabbed it by the left post. Gustaaf Groeneveldt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Marcial Estavan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcial Estavan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lars Meesters, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcial Estavan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wim Wilmes, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. In the 70th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Netherlands booed when INDEPENDIENTE F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Milton Ramos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dagoberto Neila blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arnout Reekers having to make a save. In the 92nd minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcial Estavan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to INDEPENDIENTE F.C. getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Jean-Pierre Moulin hit a great ball. Gijsbert ter Kruimer scored 1-2 in the 97th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcial Estavan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. INDEPENDIENTE F.C. had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
