Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Gijsbert ter Kruimer started the match with the kick off. Jannes Van Leempoel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Eikelkamp, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. 6 minutes into the match, Genk's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Jannes Van Leempoel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 7 minutes Genk's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. Vergil Rupov received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Arnout Reekers came out and tried to block the shot, but Vergil Rupov slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 10th minute. After some careless play in the Genk defense, Wim Wilmes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jannes Van Leempoel. The Genk fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jannes Van Leempoel should have stopped the shot. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 28 minutes into the game, Genk's Suat Kaya nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arnout Reekers made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 37th minute of play forced Genk's goalkeeper Jannes Van Leempoel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 38th minute of the match, Vergil Rupov tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Arnout Reekers saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Suat Kaya in the 41st minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 42 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Gijsbert ter Kruimer. A collision led to Genk getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Alexander Klemensson hit a great ball. Genk's Jannes Van Leempoel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 46th minute of play. 48 minutes into the game, Wim Wilmes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Jannes Van Leempoel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Suat Kaya made a kick off. In the 55th minute, Rain De Hond left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Genk fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 65th minute of play forced Genk's goalkeeper Jannes Van Leempoel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jannes Van Leempoel came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer. But to his dismay, Gijsbert ter Kruimer quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-3. Genk's 邵泉林 got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 邵泉林 hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. In the 76th match minute, Genk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rain De Hond to maneuver through the defense. Arnout Reekers didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Vergil Rupov went, in the 78th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-3 was the resulting score. Genk's Jannes Van Leempoel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 93rd minute of play. Kees Mooiweer hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Eikelkamp in the 97th minute of play forced Genk's goalkeeper Jannes Van Leempoel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Genk fans cheered their team off the field, for while Netherlands had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
