Mickaël Maris showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Barreto in the 12th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the match, Portugal's Felipe Barreto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mickaël Maris narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 15th minute of the match Portugal got a corner. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Felipe Barreto ran over to the corner to take the kick. After a rather tough play, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Ovidio Marko got a free kick in the 19th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Barreto in the 21st minute of play forced Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Mickaël Maris to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mickaël Maris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Barreto in the 28th minute of play. 30 minutes into the match, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goal looked a bit too open when Caetano Moreira came free, but Mickaël Maris reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 31st match minute, Nova Iguaçu MZFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Caco Matos to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Viriato Moura's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mickaël Maris was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horaţiu Măcrinici in the 35th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mickaël Maris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Barreto in the 39th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Pimentel in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mickaël Maris prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 45 played minutes Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Faustino Almeida. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Mickaël Maris took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Felipe Barreto came free with the goalkeeper in the 55th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Mickaël Maris could save by the left post. The supporters of Portugal booed when Nova Iguaçu MZFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zézinho Veloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 58th minute Viriato Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mickaël Maris saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mickaël Maris showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Caetano Moreira in the 59th minute of the match. Valdo de Queirós kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horaţiu Măcrinici in the 63rd minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 64 minutes into the match, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goal looked a bit too open when Felipe Barreto came free, but Mickaël Maris reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias was substituted for Viriato Moura. Mickaël Maris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felipinho Amorim, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Mickaël Maris took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bartolomeu Dias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 92 minutes into the game, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Zézinho Veloso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wilson Amorim made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. If Bartolomeu Dias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
