Paços de Ferreira's Khalid Kennedy threw himself towards the right post 20 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from José Bomba, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Issac Dawson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. José Bomba's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Khalid Kennedy read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. The England fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Khalid Kennedy should have stopped the shot. For all the effort they put into the match, the England players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for F.C. Paços de Ferreira.
