Gabriel Ascaso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 14 minutes into the match, Girona FC's goal looked a bit too open when Adria Bielsa came free, but Lastur Murcia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roman Gdaniec in the 18th minute of play forced Spain's goalkeeper Gabriel Ascaso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roman Gdaniec recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 24 minutes into the match, Girona FC's goal looked a bit too open when Adria Bielsa came free, but Lastur Murcia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 28 minutes into the match, Roman Gdaniec notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Spain's Gabriel Ascaso. Gabriel Ascaso was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 30 minutes into the match, Spain's goal looked a bit too open when Roman Gdaniec came free, but Gabriel Ascaso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Omar Toledo made the kick off in the second half. Spain's Omar Toledo came free and shot a quick shot against goal 54 minutes in the game, fortunately Lastur Murcia had problems saving as it came toward the left post. Spain's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Omar Toledo in the 56th minute. At last the ball reached Jon Cubero at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Girona FC. 1-2. If David Aranda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 62 minutes into the game, Ovidio Maldonado was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Girona FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Spain the free kick. A collision led to Girona FC getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Ovidio Maldonado hit a great ball. 65 minutes into the game, Omar Toledo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Lastur Murcia. Omar Toledo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. Girona FC's David Palau was substituted for Roman Gdaniec. Spain made a substitution. Carles Cherro replaced Omar Toledo. Gaizkine Babia kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Gabriel Ascaso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David Palau in the 72nd minute of the match. In the 74th minute of the match Girona FC got a corner. Spain's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Iván Salgado ran over to the corner to take the kick. Carles Cherro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Lastur Murcia made a huge save. In the 79th minute, David Palau ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gabriel Ascaso was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carles Cherro got free with Lastur Murcia in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gabriel Ascaso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David Palau in the 89th minute of the match. Girona FC's Ovidio Maldonado managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Jonathan Criado in the 91 minute of the game. Spain's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
