Fodor Daniel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudio Valcareggi in the 11th minute of the match. Balazs Lajos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dario Gagliano having to interfere. Aldo Santacroce hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. In the 22nd minute Bruno Aversano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fodor Daniel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 25th minute Hungary were awarded a corner. Antal Valentin went to the cornerflag to take it. 33 minutes into the match, Antal Valentin notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of all players for sale's Dario Gagliano. Dario Gagliano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Antal Valentin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Major Barna struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Dario Gagliano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hungary. In the 41st minute Bruno Aversano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fodor Daniel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 46 minutes had been played when some careless play by all players for sale's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Antal Valentin was slow to take the kick. During this time Hungary's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Hungary's Takacs Tibor to fire away a dangerous shot which Dario Gagliano despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When the match clock showed 48 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Bruno Aversano sped through Hungary's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Fodor Daniel. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Antal Valentin made a kick off. Dario Gagliano made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Antal Valentin sent off a good shot on target. After 59 minutes all players for sale's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Antal Valentin who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Hungary's corner Antal Valentin fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Dario Gagliano quite easily take care of the ball. 60 minutes into the match, Hungary's Balazs Lajos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dario Gagliano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Hungary's Fodor Daniel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francesco Tripodi in the 65th minute of play. A nice corner shot did that Claudio Valcareggi got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Fodor Daniel quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 68th minute, Daniele Juliano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hungary's supporters crossed their fingers, but Antal Valentin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. all players for sale succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Hungary had controlled the match.
