Nigel Devos charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nigel Devos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of NK AvtoBUM Kočevje booed when Belgium was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nigel Devos didn't get a good kick on the ball. 21 minutes into the match, NK AvtoBUM Kočevje's goal looked a bit too open when Edward Vanderstraeten came free, but Jákó Myroforidis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Casper Claes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vili Aćimović in the 24th minute of play. After some careless play in the NK AvtoBUM Kočevje defense, Edward Vanderstraeten kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jákó Myroforidis. The NK AvtoBUM Kočevje fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jákó Myroforidis should have stopped the shot. When Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye NK AvtoBUM Kočevje's goalie prevented a goal. In the 36th minute Edward Vanderstraeten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jákó Myroforidis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Casper Claes was out of position in the 39 minute of play, and Burns Willding capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Burns Willding really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Edward Vanderstraeten's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jákó Myroforidis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. Yves Dervaux might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jákó Myroforidis. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Yves Dervaux ran back to his position shaking his head. After 47 played minutes Belgium got a freekick which was hit by Yves Dervaux. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Edward Vanderstraeten made the kick off in the second half. 59 minutes into the match, NK AvtoBUM Kočevje's goal looked a bit too open when Edward Vanderstraeten came free, but Jákó Myroforidis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edward Vanderstraeten got free with Jákó Myroforidis in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind NK AvtoBUM Kočevje's goalkeeper Jákó Myroforidis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Edward Vanderstraeten came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Belgium fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edward Vanderstraeten couldn't finish the play. 72 minutes into the match, NK AvtoBUM Kočevje's goalkeeper Jákó Myroforidis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edward Vanderstraeten. 74 minutes into the match, Burns Willding had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Casper Claes. Belgium's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Burns Willding was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. In the 78th minute, Edward Vanderstraeten got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, NK AvtoBUM Kočevje's Ciprian Paveliuc got a free kick in the 85th minute. 89 minutes into the match, NK AvtoBUM Kočevje's goalkeeper Jákó Myroforidis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edward Vanderstraeten. Jákó Myroforidis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Jákó Myroforidis made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a good shot on target. In the 95th minute, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-4. The Belgium supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Belgium would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
