AYYILDIZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edinson Haaland was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 14 minutes into the match, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Göktürk Semin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the AYYILDIZ defense, Edward Vanderstraeten kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Göktürk Semin. The AYYILDIZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Göktürk Semin should have stopped the shot. 26 minutes into the match, AYYILDIZ's goal looked a bit too open when Edward Vanderstraeten came free, but Göktürk Semin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. AYYILDIZ's Göktürk Semin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 32nd minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edward Vanderstraeten made a kick off. The audience was convinced that Antonio Romino's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Casper Claes was relentless in the 77th minute of the game.
