The referee ignored Portugal's protests and gave Daniel Pimentel a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Portugal getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Daniel Pimentel hit a great ball. The Swedish Nightmare made a substitution. Marcin Zajac replaced Hermínio de Amaral. In the 16th minute, Daniel Pimentel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Iraklis Pistolelis made in the 25th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Hjalmar Backlund immediately put the ball in play. 27 minutes into the match, The Swedish Nightmare's Hjalmar Backlund sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wilson Amorim narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caetano Moreira in the 31st minute of play forced The Swedish Nightmare's goalkeeper Edgar Åström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd minute of the match Portugal got a corner. The Swedish Nightmare's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Portugal:s Wilson Amorim showed great skill when he stopped Niklas Ekeberg:s penalty. Wilson Amorim came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by The Swedish Nightmare's Niklas Ekeberg. But to his dismay, Niklas Ekeberg quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. After 46 played minutes Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Bruno Bastos. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Viriato Moura stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Portugal's Faustino Almeida got a free kick in the 51st minute. In the 52nd minute Niklas Ekeberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hjalmar Backlund, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Swedish Nightmare's Jörgen Linquist was substituted for Valdemar Ström. Portugal's Graciano Coutinho managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Alexander Nordgren in the 58 minute of the game. Graciano Coutinho kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hjalmar Backlund, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Graciano Coutinho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Edgar Åström made a huge save. 72 minutes into the game, Niklas Ekeberg cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-2. Wilson Amorim was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some careless play in the Portugal defense, Niklas Ekeberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wilson Amorim. The Portugal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wilson Amorim should have stopped the shot. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hjalmar Backlund in the 81st minute of play. Hjalmar Backlund sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hjalmar Backlund, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 95 minutes into the match, Hjalmar Backlund had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wilson Amorim. Portugal's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hjalmar Backlund was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-2.
