Melquiades Amor was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 19 played minutes CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA got a freekick which was hit by Valério Queirós. 23 minutes into the match, CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Melquiades Amor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Genko Balevski put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Arnout Reekers. CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's Melquiades Amor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 27th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Genko Balevski in the 34th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's Melquiades Amor got control of the ball when Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to sneak it across the goal line. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Genko Balevski in the 37th minute of play. Melquiades Amor made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wim Wilmes in the 39th minute. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Melquiades Amor in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Melquiades Amor made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. After 43 played minutes CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA got a freekick which was hit by Erik Thorvaldsson. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Gustaaf Groeneveldt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Melquiades Amor read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. In the 54th minute, Wim Wilmes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 56th minute of play forced CDS BUCANEIROS PAULISTA's goalkeeper Melquiades Amor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
