The crowd rose to their feet as Felipe Barreto kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Vicente Aguiar. That made the score 1-3 in the 37 minute of play. 43 minutes into the game, Felipe Barreto threw the ball into play from the sideline. Vicente Aguiar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felipe Barreto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vicente Aguiar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Barreto in the 68th minute of play. Wilson Amorim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cyprian Sitko in the 71st minute. The Portugal fans' excitement grew in the 72nd match minute when Portugal's Viriato Moura looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Portugal made a substitution.
