The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kristi Koçiu in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fodor Daniel saved Hungary from getting behind. In the 31st minute of the match, Antal Valentin got a very nice opportunity to score, but Vinicio Librado was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Takacs Tibor's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vinicio Librado read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. Hegedus Henrik sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 37 minutes into the match, Hungary's goal looked a bit too open when Kristi Koçiu came free, but Fodor Daniel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Balazs Lajos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hungary's supporters rose to their feet, but Balazs Lajos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vinicio Librado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kristi Koçiu to make the kick off.
