Through an outstanding action, after 8 minutes, Arnout Reekers successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Carpathian Wolves was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mugur Timofte didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Gustaaf Groeneveldt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olimpiu Hârlău was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. The Netherlands fans' excitement grew in the 12th match minute when Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 18th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olimpiu Hârlău saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Carpathian Wolves's Olimpiu Hârlău. Olimpiu Hârlău was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 20th minute of play forced Carpathian Wolves's goalkeeper Olimpiu Hârlău to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yu Feng Xi in the 25th minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 31 minutes into the game, when Benny Beckenbauer put in a rough tackle. Benny Beckenbauer hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 35th minute of play forced Carpathian Wolves's goalkeeper Olimpiu Hârlău to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 36 minutes into the game, Gijsbert ter Kruimer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Netherlands's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Carpathian Wolves the free kick. Gijsbert ter Kruimer kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Wim Wilmes sped through Carpathian Wolves's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Olimpiu Hârlău. In the 41st match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lars Meesters to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 47th minute of play forced Carpathian Wolves's goalkeeper Olimpiu Hârlău to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Timo Thorstein made the kick off in the second half. Carpathian Wolves's Olimpiu Hârlău played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 53rd minute of play. Olimpiu Hârlău was a little too slow when Wim Wilmes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 56th minute. The score was now 0-4. If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 61st minute, Maxim Urderean ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arnout Reekers was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. In the 64th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Olimpiu Hârlău. The goal made the score 1-5. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Olimpiu Hârlău made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Wim Wilmes sent off a good shot on target. In the 80th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olimpiu Hârlău saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olimpiu Hârlău showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lars Meesters, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. In the 88th minute, Mathijn Doctor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maxim Urderean in the 89th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olimpiu Hârlău made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wim Wilmes in the 90th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Netherlands walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
