Germany's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jean Britton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 8-0. Jean Britton's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tommy Kahn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jean Britton in the 86th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Chris Mergenthaler hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. In the 96th minute Sport Lisboa e Benfica were awarded a corner. Trey Easley went to the cornerflag to take it. There was no doubt that Sport Lisboa e Benfica were the better team. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
