Germany's defense didn't have a chance, in the 4th minute, when Alejo Veliz scored to the left of an out of position Tommy Kahn, making the score, 1-0. After a rather tough play, Gnesta Oilers's John Dahlquist got a free kick in the 6th minute. 16 minutes into the game, Germany's Frank Sachs nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Patrick Eliasson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After a rather tough play, Germany's Sven Krakouer got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Gaudencio Stanislao could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Tommy Kahn made a huge save. Malte Schiele kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Alejo Veliz in the 27thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Tommy Kahn, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Germany's Tommy Kahn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Germany from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Gnesta Oilers booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrian Dreifuss didn't get a good kick on the ball. 35 minutes into the match, Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alejo Veliz. Alejo Veliz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Tommy Kahn made a huge save. Tommy Kahn made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Alejo Veliz sent off a good shot on target. In the 42nd minute, Frank Sachs ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Patrick Eliasson was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After the first half Germany were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frank Sachs made a kick off. Tommy Kahn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karl-Ove Söderström in the 54th minute of the match. If Karl-Ove Söderström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 55 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Dave Mathy came free, but Tommy Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ulrich Stein received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Patrick Eliasson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Gnesta Oilers's zone, Frank Sachs stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Patrick Eliasson came out of the goal and Frank Sachs tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 72 minutes, Karl-Ove Söderström managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gnesta Oilers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Karl-Ove Söderström was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 74th minute, Karl-Ove Söderström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alejo Veliz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tommy Kahn having to make a save. Patrick Eliasson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frank Sachs in the 78th minute of play. Frank Sachs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick Eliasson having to interfere. The supporters of Gnesta Oilers booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chris Mergenthaler didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 86th minute, Adrian Dreifuss hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alejo Veliz scored 2-2 in the 87th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tommy Kahn, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 92 minutes into the match, Gnesta Oilers's goalkeeper Patrick Eliasson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Frank Sachs. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
