When Major Barna came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Hungary fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Major Barna couldn't finish the play. When Marin Giubelean came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Academia Rio fans jumped to their feet. Marin Giubelean blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fodor Daniel having to make a save. Moisés Veiga kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Hungary's Antal Valentin got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 17 minutes into the match, Academia Rio's goal looked a bit too open when Antal Valentin came free, but Gigel Tilea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Hegedus Henrik had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22nd minute, Major Barna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fodor Daniel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marin Giubelean, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jean Oltean during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 27 played minutes Academia Rio got a freekick which was hit by Jean Oltean. Takacs Tibor's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gigel Tilea read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. In the 31st minute, Major Barna ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gigel Tilea was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dumitru Pantelimon during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Hungary booed when Academia Rio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dumitru Pantelimon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marin Giubelean didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hungary's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Antal Valentin in the 45th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marin Giubelean stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Fodor Daniel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marin Giubelean's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. Antal Valentin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Gigel Tilea made a huge save. Antal Valentin struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Gigel Tilea didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hungary. Antal Valentin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With an all-out effort, Hungary's Gigel Tilea threw himself towards the right post 83 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Takacs Tibor, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. With a little luck, Academia Rio's Gigel Tilea got control of the ball when Major Barna tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Academia Rio getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Mihai Oniga hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Antal Valentin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hungary's supporters rose to their feet, but Antal Valentin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gigel Tilea breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Szekeres Tamas made in the 91st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Academia Rio's Mihai Oniga. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Sergiu Coșeriu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Academia Rio's supporters rose to their feet, but Sergiu Coșeriu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fodor Daniel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hungary played a much better game than Academia Rio and deserved their victory. The Academia Rio players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
