Gigel Tilea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 4th minute of play. Avram Tudor kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. Sergiu Coșeriu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. After some careless play in the Academia Rio defense, Gustaaf Groeneveldt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gigel Tilea. The Academia Rio fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gigel Tilea should have stopped the shot. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gigel Tilea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 34th minute of play forced Academia Rio's goalkeeper Gigel Tilea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 34 minutes of play, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gigel Tilea was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Gustaaf Groeneveldt came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gustaaf Groeneveldt couldn't finish the play. Gigel Tilea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them.

In the 51st minute, Mihai Oniga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gijsbert ter Kruimer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 53 minutes into the match, Academia Rio's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Gigel Tilea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 54th minute. Gigel Tilea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Academia Rio's Gigel Tilea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 56th minute of play. In the 57th match minute, Academia Rio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dumitru Pantelimon to maneuver through the defense. Academia Rio's defense didn't have a chance, in the 61st minute, when Gijsbert ter Kruimer scored to the left of an out of position Gigel Tilea, making the score, 1-4. David Eikelkamp had several of the Academia Rio's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 66 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-5 score and a disappointed Gigel Tilea as he didn't even see the shot coming. Academia Rio made a substitution. Alin Năsturel replaced Doru Dobrinescu. Wim Wilmes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Gigel Tilea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wim Wilmes struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Gigel Tilea didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. A throw-in in the 80th minute of the game was made by Kees Mooiweer with Gijsbert ter Kruimer as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Bas Tuitert hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 86th minute of play forced Academia Rio's goalkeeper Gigel Tilea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Netherlands's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
