Frank Sachs's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mikolaj Jerzyk read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. Tommy Kahn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thomas Vollmar, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. When the referee ended the match the Newcastle United players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
