The audience thought a goal was coming when Nikolay Podshivalov got free with Uriel Lano in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The throw-in from Flavio Escobar in the 45th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by La Gallardeta's Flavio Gonchan. In the 46th match minute, La Gallardeta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nikolay Podshivalov to maneuver through the defense. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

CLUB QUEQUÉN 1854 made a substitution. Zachariasz Pstrongowski replaced Vasco Lamego. La Gallardeta's Amado Chayo was substituted for Attilio Stefano. Carlos Alberto Tevez received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. The La Gallardeta fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. In the 61st minute Rafael Haimar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Uriel Lano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. CLUB QUEQUÉN 1854's Uriel Lano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nikolay Podshivalov in the 62nd minute of play. Uriel Lano came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by La Gallardeta's Nikolay Podshivalov. But to his dismay, Nikolay Podshivalov quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. When the match clock showed 68 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Carlos Alberto Tevez sped through La Gallardeta's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Nacho Gonzalez. CLUB QUEQUÉN 1854's Uriel Lano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paolo Rossi in the 76th minute of play. CLUB QUEQUÉN 1854's Arnulfo Liberto quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Horacio Bihar, made in the 79th minute of the game. In the 82nd minute, CLUB QUEQUÉN 1854's Carlos Alberto Tevez ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nacho Gonzalez. Nacho Gonzalez yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-3. The crowd rose to their feet as CLUB QUEQUÉN 1854's Carlos Alberto Tevez slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nacho Gonzalez. That made the score 3-4 after 90 minutes of play. The referee's whistle sounded for the end of the second half. The match was tied at 4-4. None of the players looked happy at the prospect of extra-time.

After the break the players went out on the field to play the first half of overtime with revived energy in their legs. La Gallardeta's Paolo Rossi started the play with the initial kick off. CLUB QUEQUÉN 1854's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Alberto Tevez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nacho Gonzalez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Uriel Lano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amado Chayo in the 132nd minute of play. Carlos Alberto Tevez who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 134thth minute tested the skills of Nacho Gonzalez when he managed to save the team from getting behind.

The referee gave La Gallardeta a penalty, 136 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Paolo Rossi, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of CLUB QUEQUÉN 1854's Uriel Lano. 5-4. Uriel Lano had in the 137thth minute some difficulties stopping Flavio Escobar's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 138th minute there was a penalty for La Gallardeta. Rafael Haimar stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Uriel Lano. 6-5. Uriel Lano had in the 139thth minute some difficulties stopping Sotos Kastaniou's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Sotos Kastaniou's long shot made the audience stand up and applaude when it rumbled by Nacho Gonzalez on his right side and into the goal. 140 minutes into the game it was 6-6. The referee gave La Gallardeta a penalty, 147 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Horacio Bihar, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of CLUB QUEQUÉN 1854's Uriel Lano. 8-7. La Gallardeta:s Uriel Lano showed great skill when he stopped Marcelo Delgado:s penalty. Marcelo Delgado succeeded in the game's 148th minute to get real power on a long shot . La Gallardeta's Nacho Gonzalez hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 8-8! CLUB QUEQUÉN 1854:s Uriel Lano showed great skill when he stopped Flavio Gonchan:s penalty. Uriel Lano had in the 154thth minute some difficulties stopping Carlos Alberto Tevez's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Aldo Mincho's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Nacho Gonzalez - 9-9 was put on the score board in the 157th minute. In the 158th minute there was a penalty for La Gallardeta. Fabricio Milian stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Uriel Lano. 10-9.
