Frank de Boer charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Dolf Schoonderwoerd managed to get in a good position for a shot. The Underdogs's supporters rose to their feet, but Dolf Schoonderwoerd was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Casper Claes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Belgium's Casper Claes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dolf Schoonderwoerd in the 42nd minute of play. Jan Wessel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Yves Dervaux in the 46th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Robin Boelens stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Edward Vanderstraeten's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jan Wessel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. After 77 minutes, Dolf Schoonderwoerd made it 2-3 with a short kick to the right side. Belgium's Casper Claes tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Edward Vanderstraeten blasted a shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jan Wessel having to make a save. Edward Vanderstraeten sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 92nd match minute, Belgium was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Floris Claeys to maneuver through the defense. If Dolf Schoonderwoerd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. The Underdogs walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
