An unexpectedly hard shot by Paul Mirea in the 2nd minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Juan Gaitan, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind UM Timisoara's goalkeeper Juan Gaitan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Belgium were awarded a corner in the 21th minute after UM Timisoara's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Edward Vanderstraeten took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Nigel Devos got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Juan Gaitan quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Mădălin Busuioc kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Casper Claes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leo Weterio in the 30th minute of play. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Casper Claes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Casper Claes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
