Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Yves Dervaux struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Gerold Zollt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Belgium. If Ovidiu Poenaru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tobias Petersson kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Gerold Zollt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Matthieu Richardot managed to get in a good position for a shot. DJK Füchtel Vechta's supporters rose to their feet, but Matthieu Richardot was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Casper Claes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yves Dervaux in the 27th minute of play forced DJK Füchtel Vechta's goalkeeper Gerold Zollt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gerold Zollt narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edward Vanderstraeten to make the kick off.
