Portugal's attentive Felipe Barreto managed to snatch the ball when André Kuipers made a throw-in in the 26th minute of the game. 29 minutes into the match, Hala Madrid Iraki FC's goal looked a bit too open when Caetano Moreira came free, but Ruben Montez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Barreto in the 35th minute of play forced Hala Madrid Iraki FC's goalkeeper Ruben Montez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Genílson Carneiro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wilson Amorim having to make a save. In the 41stth minute of the game Viriato Moura who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hala Madrid Iraki FC's Ruben Montez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Portugal fans' excitement grew in the 41st match minute when Portugal's Viriato Moura looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. An unexpected shot in the 45th minute by Genílson Carneiro got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rubinho Novaes to strike the kick off in the second half. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rubinho Novaes in the 53rd minute of the match. 56 minutes into the game, Caetano Moreira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Portugal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hala Madrid Iraki FC the free kick. Hala Madrid Iraki FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Chip Potterton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilson Amorim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Genílson Carneiro in the 71st minute of play. 74 minutes in the game Genílson Carneiro did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Rubinho Novaes. Hala Madrid Iraki FC made a substitution. Ciro Di Marzio replaced Marcelo Gallarde. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rubinho Novaes, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 82 minutes, Ruben Montez successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ruben Montez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bartolomeu Dias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bartolomeu Dias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rubinho Novaes in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wilson Amorim prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ruben Montez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bartolomeu Dias in the 95th minute.
