Italy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sigfrido Auletta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Italy's Flavio Vittori proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Italy from getting a goal against them. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Union Y Progreso F.C.'s Dragomir Marchovski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Union Y Progreso F.C. from getting a goal against them. Union Y Progreso F.C.'s Dragomir Marchovski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 65th minute of play. Dragomir Marchovski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 66th minute. Costante Segarra recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 78 played minutes Union Y Progreso F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Fabio Cordarell. Siricio Liotta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Dragomir Marchovski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Italy made a substitution. Adriano Curto replaced Zaccheo Andolina. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Sueiro in the 87th minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eliseo Cutri made a great header on Italy's corner, it was just that Union Y Progreso F.C.'s Dragomir Marchovski managed to reach the ball for a save.
