Ambrosio Dacio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Caelan Hayes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Khalid Kennedy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abelardo Bernabel in the 5th minute of play. When Seth Young fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored England's protests and gave Seth Young a yellow card for diving instead. In the 42nd minute of the match Joãozinho Quartiero sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Khalid Kennedy skillfully saved the ball. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dariusz Adamski was the one to do the kick off.
