With an extended leg and a bit of luck Maxime Durand prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Frank Peletier fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored France's protests and gave Frank Peletier a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, France's Frank Peletier got a free kick in the 15th minute. After having played for 18 minutes, Remy Dupuy managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. France's supporters crossed their fingers, but Remy Dupuy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Camille Baume charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Camille Baume the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dino Baciadonne made a kick off. The audience was convinced that Ferdinando Di Camillo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Maxime Durand was relentless in the 55th minute of the game.
