In the 5th minute Antal Valentin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dušan Ančic saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fodor Daniel made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Devon Howson sent off a good shot on target. 16 minutes into the game, Antal Valentin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Dušan Ančic was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Sebastian Percival did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-2 to the left of a surprised Fodor Daniel 19 minutes into the match. Hungary's Antal Valentin got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Major Barna kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Dušan Ančic showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hegedus Henrik in the 36th minute of the match. Fodor Daniel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Spike Foley, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. 39 minutes into the match, Club Atlético de Newell's goal looked a bit too open when Antal Valentin came free, but Dušan Ančic reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With his leg Fodor Daniel managed to avoid a goal in the 41stth minute, when Club Atlético de Newell's Devon Howson fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Antal Valentin made the kick off in the second half. Fodor Daniel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastian Percival in the 50th minute of play. Hungary's Antal Valentin got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 58th minute Club Atlético de Newell were awarded a corner. Pastor Eufemio went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 64th minute Sebastian Percival shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fodor Daniel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Sebastian Percival managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atlético de Newell's supporters rose to their feet, but Sebastian Percival was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fodor Daniel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 75th minute Devon Howson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fodor Daniel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Spike Foley struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Fodor Daniel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atlético de Newell. After 80 played minutes Hungary got a freekick which was hit by Hegedus Henrik. 88 minutes into the match, Hungary's goal looked a bit too open when Spike Foley came free, but Fodor Daniel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hungary's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Antal Valentin in the 92nd minute. The corner led Hungary's Major Barna to a score. 2-3 in the 92nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Spike Foley in the 95th minute of play forced Hungary's goalkeeper Fodor Daniel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hungary's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
