Frank Sachs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adelio Marambio having to interfere. 6 minutes into the game, Frank Sachs cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Adelio Marambio was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Deportes Vαldiviα getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Karlos Novoa hit a great ball. Adelio Marambio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frank Sachs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Adrian Dreifuss fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Germany's protests and gave Adrian Dreifuss a yellow card for diving instead. After 30 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Linus Schwerner. The throw-in from Laurín Dundan in the 32nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Germany's Willy Stieler. When Deportes Vαldiviα's Eufrasio Najera in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Germany's goalie prevented a goal. Deportes Vαldiviα's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Vinos Guemes in the 36th minute. The supporters of Deportes Vαldiviα booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Malte Schiele didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tommy Kahn made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Rolando Ortega sent off a good shot on target. In the 47th minute, Deportes Vαldiviα's Eufrasio Najera ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tommy Kahn. Tommy Kahn yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eufrasio Najera to make the kick off. If Frank Sachs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Janik Vogt hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eufrasio Najera in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tommy Kahn saved Germany from getting behind. Germany's Tommy Kahn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rolando Ortega in the 60th minute of play. After 60 minutes, Eufrasio Najera made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Germany's Tommy Kahn tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Frank Sachs kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. 66 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Silvestre Romo came free, but Tommy Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Deportes Vαldiviα's Diego Peragallo got a free kick in the 67th minute. Frank Sachs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Frank Sachs's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adelio Marambio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. The supporters of Germany booed when Deportes Vαldiviα was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laurín Dundan didn't get a good kick on the ball. 81 minutes into the game, Silvestre Romo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Tommy Kahn was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 88th minute Rolando Ortega shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Deportes Vαldiviα's Rolando Ortega got a free kick in the 89th minute. Rolando Ortega fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Kahn having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Eufrasio Najera's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tommy Kahn was relentless in the 97th minute of the game. Germany's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
