The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Guter Acosta helped the player get up and apologised. Guter Acosta kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Daniel Pimentel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 9th minute, Trabzonspor's Alejo Otsando dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Felipe Barreto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Portugal's supporters rose to their feet, but Felipe Barreto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Yunus Civan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alejo Otsando in the 18th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 21 minutes into the game, Akil Özgener threw the ball into play from the sideline. Portugal's Bruno Bastos quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 23 minutes into the match, Trabzonspor's Alejo Otsando sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wilson Amorim narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alejo Otsando in the 26th minute of play. In the 30th minute Viriato Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yunus Civan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 32 minutes, Wilson Amorim successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Alejo Otsando's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wilson Amorim read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Trabzonspor's zone, Felipe Barreto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Yunus Civan came out of the goal and Felipe Barreto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 41st minute, Alejo Otsando got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Yunus Civan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Caetano Moreira went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Viriato Moura made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Barreto in the 51st minute of play forced Trabzonspor's goalkeeper Yunus Civan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 52nd minute of the match, Felipe Barreto got a very nice opportunity to score, but Yunus Civan was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Felipe Barreto took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Yunus Civan to make any attempt to save it. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alejo Otsando in the 65th minute of the match. Trabzonspor's Kerem Erek was substituted for Alejo Otsando. The supporters of Trabzonspor booed when Portugal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Faustino Almeida didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kerem Erek took the ball and in the 68 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wilson Amorim. Wilson Amorim dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. 73 minutes into the game, Trabzonspor's Kerem Erek nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wilson Amorim made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. Trabzonspor's Yılmaz Avcu was substituted for Lucio Claus. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kerem Erek in the 78th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Yunus Civan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Pimentel in the 79th minute of play. Trabzonspor's Guter Acosta quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Rodolfo Miranda, made in the 81st minute of the game. In the 83rd minute Trabzonspor were awarded a corner. Bedrettin Özaktuğ went to the cornerflag to take it. Wilson Amorim didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kerem Erek went, in the 85th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. 88 minutes into the match, Trabzonspor's goalkeeper Yunus Civan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bartolomeu Dias. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kerem Erek in the 89th minute of play. Yunus Civan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Graciano Coutinho in the 91st minute. 92 minutes into the match, Trabzonspor's goal looked a bit too open when Bartolomeu Dias came free, but Yunus Civan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kerem Erek took the ball and in the 93 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wilson Amorim. Wilson Amorim dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-2. Trabzonspor's Kerem Erek got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Trabzonspor fans cheered their team off the field, for while Portugal had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
