The wind increased when Gijsbert ter Kruimer made the kick off in the second half. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcus Edström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gustaaf Groeneveldt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ilkka Markkula read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ilkka Markkula having to interfere. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yan Zhi Chuan in the 73rd minute of the match. Kees Mooiweer got a throw-in 81 minutes in the game and the ball was received by David Eikelkamp. In the 83rd minute, Raimundo Tupper got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Ilkka Markkula in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ilkka Markkula made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 86th minute. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lars Meesters hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Club Deportes Santa Cruz's zone, Gijsbert ter Kruimer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ilkka Markkula came out of the goal and Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The throw-in from Kees Mooiweer in the 95th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Gilberto Sandoval. Gilberto Sandoval's late challenge caught a Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gilberto Sandoval helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Gilberto Sandoval got a free kick in the 95th minute. Netherlands's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
