Portugal:s Wilson Amorim showed great skill when he stopped Peyo Fonelleda:s penalty. Peyo Fonelleda blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wilson Amorim having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Portugal's Daniel Pimentel got a free kick in the 20th minute. A hard shot 22 in the game by Peyo Fonelleda from a close distance when the talented Wilson Amorim managed to make a qualified save. Portugal's players were relieved. After 38 minutes of play, Consejo del Mate's Peyo Fonelleda made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wilson Amorim was left in no man's land by his defense there! Hugo Orlando Gatti stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Felipe Barreto's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. Viriato Moura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Viriato Moura to make the kick off. In the 55th minute Portugal were awarded a corner. The supporters of Consejo del Mate booed when Portugal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raul Caetano didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Consejo del Mate's Honorato Zambujal got a free kick in the 61st minute. Consejo del Mate's Ervin Alla was substituted for Vicente Pernia.
