In the 11th minute of the match Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely got a corner. Spain's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ediberto de Queirós ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Lars Flinck got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gabriel Ascaso quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. A hard shot 13 in the game by Eusebiu Ipătescu from a close distance when the talented Gabriel Ascaso managed to make a qualified save. Spain's players were relieved. Gabriel Ascaso was a little too slow when Eusebiu Ipătescu got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 16th minute. The score was now 1-0. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eusebiu Ipătescu made a kick off. 56 minutes into the match, Carlos Mei notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Spain's Gabriel Ascaso. Eusebiu Ipătescu might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gabriel Ascaso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eusebiu Ipătescu ran back to his position shaking his head. Eusebiu Ipătescu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gabriel Ascaso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. Spain's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
