The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Romania's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Adam Olaru in the 5th minute. After taking down the ball on Romania's corner Costica Vladimiri fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Aurel Crivoi quite easily take care of the ball. Paul Hermansson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Carol Stinga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aurel Crivoi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adam Olaru in the 13th minute of the match. Carol Stinga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernt Offendahl, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Costica Vladimiri in the 16th minute of play forced Hudiksvalls Sjöbodar BK's goalkeeper Aurel Crivoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vasile Ciumak struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Aurel Crivoi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Romania. In the 29th minute of the match Romania got a corner. Hudiksvalls Sjöbodar BK's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Adam Olaru ran over to the corner to take the kick. Romania's Sanda Cutov was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Aurel Crivoi in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Hudiksvalls Sjöbodar BK's Aurel Crivoi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vasile Ciumak in the 34th minute of play. Carol Stinga made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Paul Hermansson sent off a good shot on target. Romania's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vasile Ciumak was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hector Hugo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Romania's goal looked a bit too open when Alfred Mossberg came free, but Carol Stinga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sanda Cutov blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Aurel Crivoi having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Serban in the 59th minute of play forced Hudiksvalls Sjöbodar BK's goalkeeper Aurel Crivoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 61st minute Sanda Cutov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aurel Crivoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Romania made a substitution. Octavian Vaduva replaced Costica Vladimiri. Romania's Anton Stinga was substituted for Adam Olaru. Carol Stinga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hector Hugo in the 67th minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 70 minutes, Aurel Crivoi successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When Sanda Cutov came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Romania fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sanda Cutov couldn't finish the play. Romania's Alexandru Pangratiu was substituted for Alex Serban. 75 minutes into the match, Romania's goal looked a bit too open when Hector Hugo came free, but Carol Stinga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 78 minutes, Aurel Crivoi successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the last second Aurel Crivoi throw himself and got hold of the ball when Sanda Cutov in the 85thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Sanda Cutov might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aurel Crivoi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sanda Cutov ran back to his position shaking his head. 86 minutes into the match, Hudiksvalls Sjöbodar BK's goalkeeper Aurel Crivoi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sanda Cutov. Romania's Sanda Cutov was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Aurel Crivoi in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Romania's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
