The corner led GuateFortín's Roberto Trotta to fire away a dangerous shot which Roch Roman despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 18th minute of the match, Juarês Pontes got a very nice opportunity to score, but Nery Pumpido was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 29th minute Candido Oroitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nery Pumpido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sven-Edvin Jansson in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roch Roman saved Galácticos del Pueblo from getting behind. Emiliano Toribio hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. After 38 played minutes, GuateFortín's Angel Alvarenga shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Roch Roman came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in GuateFortín reached it. Angel Alvarenga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Roch Roman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 47 minutes into the match, Candido Oroitz dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Nery Pumpido, 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
