The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Club Universidad Nacional's Arnoud de Pelsmakere played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pietro Salles in the 6th minute of play. 9 minutes into the game, Samuel Nava was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Monterrey ante el Mundo⛥'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Universidad Nacional the free kick. After a rather tough play, Monterrey ante el Mundo⛥'s Samuel Nava got a free kick in the 9th minute. Nicasio Abad stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Steffen Gimlinge's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. In the 29th minute of the match, Steffen Gimlinge got a very nice opportunity to score, but Nicasio Abad was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Inocencio Paublo was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. In the 44th minute, Joel Enekoitz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
The wind increased when Steffen Gimlinge made the kick off in the second half. Nicasio Abad made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steffen Gimlinge in the 53rd minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Monterrey ante el Mundo⛥ players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Club Universidad Nacional.
