The throw-in from Ligitas Jutkus in the 15th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by GuateFortín's Roberto Trotta. 16 minutes into the match, Vikingos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Sven-Edvin Jansson came free, but Sebastián Sosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 20th minute by Cássio Lopes got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 22nd minute Sven-Edvin Jansson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastián Sosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Claudio Cerritos made in the 23rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Stanyo Búnkov. Sven-Edvin Jansson struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Sebastián Sosa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GuateFortín. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marco Cantona to make the kick off. After some careless play in the GuateFortín defense, Marco Cantona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nery Pumpido. The GuateFortín fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nery Pumpido should have stopped the shot. 58 minutes into the game, Angel Alvarenga recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Sebastián Sosa. Angel Alvarenga showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. In the 63rd minute, Sven-Edvin Jansson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GuateFortín fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. GuateFortín made a substitution. Máximo Perrone replaced Heriberto Correa. Vikingos FC's Ladislao Erramu was substituted for Marco Cantona. GuateFortín's Mario Gomez was substituted for Roberto Trotta. GuateFortín made a substitution. Nery Pumpido was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ladislao Erramu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nery Pumpido read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. Sven-Edvin Jansson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Sebastián Sosa made a huge save. If Cássio Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vikingos FC made a substitution. In the 81st minute Sven-Edvin Jansson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastián Sosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind GuateFortín's goalkeeper Nery Pumpido, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Vikingos FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
