Club Universidad Nacional's Steffen Gimlinge got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Steffen Gimlinge might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tommy Kahn. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Steffen Gimlinge ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Steffen Gimlinge got free with Tommy Kahn in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 19 minutes into the match, Club Universidad Nacional's Steffen Gimlinge sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tommy Kahn narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Steffen Gimlinge could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Tommy Kahn made a huge save. Tommy Kahn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Steffen Gimlinge, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alf Trydeman made in the 33rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Steffen Gimlinge. A throw-in in the 35th minute of the game was made by Chris Mergenthaler with Frank Sachs as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Germany's Tommy Kahn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Germany from getting a goal against them. Steffen Gimlinge might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tommy Kahn. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Steffen Gimlinge to strike the kick off in the second half. After 51st play minutes Steffen Gimlinge shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Tommy Kahn and just under the crossbar into goal. 68 minutes into the match, Steffen Gimlinge notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Germany's Tommy Kahn. Feliciano Frans ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Feliciano Frans in the 80th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 81st minute, Feliciano Frans got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Arnoud de Pelsmakere showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Sachs, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute.
