After 7 minutes, Gustaaf Groeneveldt made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Picanya FC's Naldo Roig tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 10 minutes of play, Netherlands's Wim Wilmes made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Naldo Roig was left in no man's land by his defense there! Picanya FC's Naldo Roig played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 16th minute of play. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 20th minute. After taking down the ball on Netherlands's corner Lars Meesters fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Naldo Roig quite easily take care of the ball. In the 48th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Naldo Roig saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Netherlands were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gregory Bermejo to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guilabertus Martinez in the 52nd minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Naldo Roig in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Netherlands played a much better game than Picanya FC and deserved their victory. The Picanya FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
