After the first half Romania were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Adam Olaru to strike the kick off in the second half. Costica Vladimiri received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Bonifacio Baumer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 53 played minutes Romania got a freekick which was hit by Rasvan Cristescu. In the 54th minute Dries van Veldhuizen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carol Stinga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carol Stinga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernard Janiczek in the 72nd minute of the match. In the 73rd minute Octavian Vaduva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bonifacio Baumer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
