Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) U21 France's Momo Boumedienne started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 2 minutes into the match, U21 Ireland's Barram Duggan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Felix Poggi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jean-Marc Kazmierczak in the 9th minute of play forced U21 Ireland's goalkeeper Richard Duggan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Seoirse McJon in the 14th minute of play forced U21 France's goalkeeper Felix Poggi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute Jean-Marc Kazmierczak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Richard Duggan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U21 France's Alain Dennemont managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Robert Kirby in the 18 minute of the game. Richard Duggan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alain Dennemont in the 20th minute of play. 20 minutes into the game, U21 France's Alain Dennemont nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Richard Duggan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Jean-Marc Kazmierczak kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Beamard Sheridan hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. 27 minutes into the match, U21 France's Thierry Lhermite sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Richard Duggan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the U21 Ireland defense, Momo Boumedienne kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Richard Duggan. The U21 Ireland fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Richard Duggan should have stopped the shot. In the 31st minute, Jean-Marc Kazmierczak got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 38 minutes of play, U21 France's Jean-Marc Kazmierczak made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Richard Duggan was left in no man's land by his defense there! Richard Duggan came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 France's Jean-Marc Kazmierczak. But to his dismay, Jean-Marc Kazmierczak quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. In the 46th minute, Robert Kirby hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Brayden McPaul stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jean-Marc Kazmierczak in the 52nd minute of play forced U21 Ireland's goalkeeper Richard Duggan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. U21 Ireland's Richard Duggan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save U21 Ireland from getting a goal against them. 53 minutes into the game, Momo Boumedienne lined in a short shot 0-5 behind a frustrated Richard Duggan. U21 Ireland's Richard Duggan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Ireland from getting a goal against them. In the 75th match minute, U21 Ireland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Seoirse McJon to maneuver through the defense. 81 minutes into the match, U21 Ireland's goal looked a bit too open when Léon Cailleaux came free, but Richard Duggan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 85th minute U21 France were awarded a corner. Thierry Lhermite went to the cornerflag to take it. U21 Ireland's Richard Duggan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Léon Cailleaux in the 90th minute of play. Momo Boumediennes short, quick shot in the 92ndth minute got Richard Duggan to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.
