With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kevin Keegan in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Flavio Vittori saved Italy from getting behind. 7 minutes had been played when some careless play by Italy's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Krister Uggstedt was slow to take the kick. During this time Skövde AIK's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Skövde AIK's Håkan Kruse getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 10 minutes into the match, Italy's Zaccheo Andolina sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Karl-Erik Norström narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Knut Rudberg's late challenge caught a Italy's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Knut Rudberg helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Skövde AIK getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Knut Rudberg hit a great ball. Flavio Vittori made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Keegan in the 20th minute of play. Karl-Erik Norström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zaccheo Andolina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 22 minutes into the match, Italy's Siricio Liotta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Karl-Erik Norström narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Karl-Erik Norström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sigfrido Auletta in the 24th minute of the match. Zaccheo Andolina scored 0-1 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Karl-Erik Norström, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Karl-Erik Norström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zaccheo Andolina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Skövde AIK's Karl-Erik Norström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 32nd minute of play. In the 37th minute Zaccheo Andolina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karl-Erik Norström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Flavio Vittori showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chen Ao Fan, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. 45 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Karl-Erik Norström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Italy were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 62nd minute Zaccheo Andolina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karl-Erik Norström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Italy's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Sigfrido Auletta in the 65th minute. A very nice done corner allowed Siricio Liotta to score against Karl-Erik Norström in Skövde AIK's goal. 0-3 after 66 minutes. Italy's Siricio Liotta managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Krister Uggstedt in the 72 minute of the game. Italy's Sansone Vanella was substituted for Gianpaolo Mascari. Italy made a substitution. Guiscardo Davide replaced Sigfrido Auletta. Italy made a substitution. Adriano Curto replaced Zaccheo Andolina. A sloppy throw-in by Knut Rudberg in the 82nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Italy's Siricio Liotta. Skövde AIK's defense didn't have a chance, in the 83rd minute, when Adriano Curto scored to the left of an out of position Karl-Erik Norström, making the score, 0-4. Adriano Curto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Karl-Erik Norström made a huge save. The audience was convinced that Adriano Curto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Karl-Erik Norström was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 88 minutes, Adriano Curto put it in 0-5 from a short distance just to the right of Karl-Erik Norström. Karl-Erik Norström didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 93rd minute, which inside left pole to 0-6. Italy played a much better game than Skövde AIK and deserved their victory. The Skövde AIK players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
