An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Pimentel in the 11th minute of play forced National Team Cape-Verde's goalkeeper Pål Sefastsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Viriato Moura fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pål Sefastsson having to interfere. Wilson Amorim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hjalmar Browald in the 21st minute. If Daniel Pimentel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hjalmar Browald who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 31stth minute tested the skills of Wilson Amorim when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The throw-in from Faustino Almeida in the 38th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by National Team Cape-Verde's Cris Montoia. Hjalmar Browald blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wilson Amorim having to make a save. Wilson Amorim had great luck who in the 39thth minute grab hold of the ball when Fredric Melander from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. 43 minutes into the match, National Team Cape-Verde's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Pål Sefastsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pål Sefastsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viriato Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Viriato Moura to make the kick off. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alex Broberg in the 93rd minute of play. Johannes Stenqvist hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Portugal's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
