The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Frontera AFC's Agustín Rossi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 8th minute of play. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Netherlands's corner Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Agustín Rossi quite easily take care of the ball. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Silvestre Cisco in the 30th minute of play. Agustín Rossi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alan Varela kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Naohiro Takahara could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. Agustín Rossi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 41st minute of the match. In the 43rd minute, one of Netherlands:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Netherlands. Agustín Rossi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gijsbert ter Kruimer to make the kick off. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 50th minute of the match, but Agustín Rossi made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Frontera AFC's zone, Gijsbert ter Kruimer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Agustín Rossi came out of the goal and Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Wim Wilmes came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wim Wilmes couldn't finish the play. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Agustín Rossi having to interfere. Frontera AFC's Agustín Rossi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Frontera AFC from getting a goal against them. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Agustín Rossi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Netherlands's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
