When Chris Mergenthaler fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Germany's protests and gave Chris Mergenthaler a yellow card for diving instead. In the 2nd minute, Chris Mergenthaler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Generoso Nazario's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tommy Kahn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. Generoso Nazario fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Kahn having to interfere. During the 10th minute of the match Chris Mergenthaler completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Chris Mergenthaler a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 10th match minute, Germany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chris Mergenthaler to maneuver through the defense. If Generoso Nazario had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tommy Kahn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Generoso Nazario, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 25 minutes into the match, Defensores de Fasano's Roland Deutsch sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tommy Kahn narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 27 played minutes Defensores de Fasano got a freekick which was hit by Manuel Unax. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Defensores de Fasano's goalkeeper Deng Liang Yao, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Germany's Tommy Kahn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Germany from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Germany's Adrian Dreifuss got a free kick in the 41st minute. In the 42nd minute, Generoso Nazario fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Tommy Kahn, passed just outside the right post. 44 minutes into the game, Frank Sachs was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Germany's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Defensores de Fasano the free kick. Frank Sachs hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Defensores de Fasano's Generoso Nazario got a free kick in the 46th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
After a defensive mix-up in Germany's zone, Roland Deutsch stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommy Kahn came out of the goal and Roland Deutsch tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 64th minute, Gonchan Ocejo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Roland Deutsch took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tommy Kahn. Tommy Kahn dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Tommy Kahn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Generoso Nazario in the 70th minute of play. Generoso Nazario fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Kahn having to interfere. The supporters of Defensores de Fasano booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulrich Stein didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tommy Kahn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Andrade in the 78th minute of play. Janik Vogt was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 82 minutes into the match. After 82 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Germany! After 87 minutes, Generoso Nazario made it 4-1 with a short kick to the right side. Germany's Tommy Kahn tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Luiz Andrade kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Tommy Kahn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roland Deutsch in the 94th minute of the match. Roland Deutsch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Germany's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
